As I got to know two monster characters, Hulk from comic series, The Incredible Hulk, and Alex Mercer from video game series, Prototype, I just knew those would be so alike in some many things. However, their actions bring complicated issues on their alignment.

Are they good or bad?

First, let's get to know them. Both of them are scientists who created the experiments that turned them into the way they are. They resented their original incarnations for the way they do things. They are feared by society and hunted down by the military. They live in the same country: New York. They have different goals; Hulk's goal is to find the perfect place where he could be alone while Alex's goal is to find out who he is and get revenge on the ones responsible for turning him into the way he is. Hulk is 40 years old whereas Alex is 29 years old.

I've been wondering, is Hulk an inspiration to how Alex is made? Who knows, maybe so. Hulk's relationships with Betty Ross, Doc Samson, and She-Hulk could be compared to Alex's relationships with Karen Parker, Bradley Ragland, and Dana Mercer. They're really interesting characters to me when it comes to having similarities, yet they have their differences.

Now, for the question...

Hulk is bad. First time he appeared, he goes on a mindless rampage on the military without knowing about who he truly is, Bruce Banner. To top it off, he gets more stronger whenever he gets angry more. He often hits friend or foe alike. Looks like he can't tell the difference between them. He also has a big ego; he just can't stand that somebody is stronger than him. However, he can be persuaded into fighting alongside someone and there are times where he could be helpful to the world. As of now, Hulk is good.

Alex is good. He has no memory of what had happened to him before he went to a morgue. He finds himself to be driven into killing as he searches for answers on who he really is. The truth is discovered, but he's not liking it; he is just the Blacklight Virus that is unleashed by none other than Alex Mercer himself just before he died at Penn Station. Despite that, he saved New York City from a nuke going off. However, things will grow worse on him as he goes on a quest if he truly belongs amongst the humans. He finds them only caring about themselves, not others. It looks like he's going to lose faith in humanity with those actions. Even living with Flint and Autumn doesn't make it better; he discovers the former was once a criminal working for Zurich and the latter shot him in the head. This finally sets him off as he kills them and plans on turning the world into his own way by unleashing the Blacklight Virus in New York. As of now, Alex is bad.
