Underneath a darkening sky, a crowd of people stood watching Kel as she drew her sword Griffin from its sheath. She was standing at the alter where today her best friend and her knight-master were going to be married. She was dressed in the gown that she was wearing as Yuki's maid of honor, and she was focused on the stranger standing in front of her holding a sword.

The man started walking towards her, and Kel braced herself for an attack. The man's face was masked by the shadows of the tents that surrounded the clearing. Just a little closer, and then I can see who you are, thought Kel. Then, the sunlight hit the face of someone she knew. Someone she knew very well. The man pulled a ring out of his pocket and bent down on one knee in front of the speechless Kel.

Dom?

Keladry woke up in a sweat. It took her a moment to realize where she was. The bright morning sunlight was peeking in through the shutters of the Inn window. Somewhere close by outside, she could hear the grunting of maids bringing in fresh milk and herbs for the lavish dinners being prepared for the rehearsal dinner.

Kel sat motionless for a few moments, allowing her beating heart to slow down. Her dreams of late had not been filled with the horrors of battle, or the threat of a mad mage. All she had been thinking about was her former King's Own companion and close friend Domitan of Masbolle.

Kel shook herself. Slowly she began to get out of bed and stretched for her morning glaive exercises. In the past few years, she had proven to herself that her heart was a flighty one. She found herself constantly attracted to the young men that she served with. First it was Neal's, then it was Dom, then it was Cleon and now it seemed her never restful heart was Dom's again.

Idiotic, Kel told herself. I thought that I would give up this stupid love business when I was finally a knight who had real responsibilities and a future. Now, it's even worse then it was when I was a page! Who ever told me that being a Lady Knight was easy? I should have slugged them.
