Tuesday: July4th, 2006 Los Angeles California. Highway I-10. The overpass.
After getting out of work on the 4th July, I knew it was gonna be a traffic jam, because of all the construction signs, so yes of course I had to deal sitting in the evening heat for 2-3 hours.
While waiting in my hot black 76' Cadillac Fleetwood. I put my car in park. And just tapped my fingers on the steering wheel, waiting for traffic to move. Several hours go by and it's already dark. I looked at my phone, it was 8:03pm. While waiting I called my brother, saying that I'll be a little late. He told me I better hury, cause the show will begin around 10pm.
When I got off the phone, I heard my favorite song being played on the radio.
"When the day is long. And the night, the night is yours alone".
Hearing this song, just made me get out of my car, and begin walking along the side of the freeway.
"When you're sure you've had too much. Of this life, well hang on".
"Don't let yourself go, cause everybody cries. And everybody hurts, sometimes".
I looked at the people sitting in their cars, some staring at me, and the others just crying, and a lot of them just waiting for traffic to move.
"Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along"
"When your day is night alone".
I noticed somebody trying to roll down their window, so I shouted at them to hold on.
"Hold on, hold on"
"If you feel like letting go"
"Hold on"
"If you think you've had too much"
"Of this life".
Soon I began to feel something soft hit my black suit. I looked up, only to find a man throwing money down from the overpass. I yelled at him. "Excuse me sir, what are you doing up there", I asked. The man didn't respond, instead he kept throwing his money down.
I just ignored and kept walking under the overpass, and kept singing.
"Well hang on. Cause everybody hurts"
"Take comfort in your friends"
"Everybody hurts"
"Don't throw your hand"
"Oh, no"
"Don't throw your hand".
I climbed up onto the railing, since there was no more of the white line for the walking area, and kept singing. I looked over again at the truck driver in the tanker truck and just stared at him, holding his puppy, and staring out into the distance.
I looked back and kept walking along the railing and hopped off, cause of the bars railing that prevents people falling down onto the railroad tracks. "Speaking of", I leaned on the bars and looked down, at the railroad tracks. Then out in the distance to we're I saw the train.
"If you feel like your alone"
"No, no, no, your not alone".
Once the train passed under, and into the tunnel. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a penny, and flung it onto the railroad tracks.
"If you're on your own"
"In this life"
"The days and nights are long"
"When you think you've had too much"
"Of this life"
"To hang on".
After a while of walking I turned and began to walk back to my car, cause I checked my phone, only for it to be 9:55pm. But I still kept singing.
"Well, everybody hurts sometimes"
"Everybody cries"
"And everybody hurts sometimes"
"And everybody hurts sometimes".
When I got back to my car, I stood on top of the roof, and sung the final lyrics, which made everybody get out of there car. To watch the show, since it was already ready 10:00pm.
Then the fireworks went off.
"So, hold on, hold on"
"Hold on, hold on"
"Hold on, hold on"
"Hold on, hold on".
"Everybody hurts".
"No, no, no"
"Your not alone".
