The Dumbing Down of Love

Luke Skywalker sat alone in his bedroom, staring blankly into space. The silence broken by the faint whirring of his mechanical hand as it moved. He glanced at it, startled by the noise and memories came flooding back. He remembered Myrkyr, and using its power to escape from his locked room. Myrkyr, where Anakin had died, and Jacen was captured, never to return as the sweet boy he once was. Myrkyr, where he'd met Mara…

"Mara…" he spoke into the silence, eyes and fists clenched shut in anguish. Mara…his wife, his lover, his friend, the mother of his child, gone.

Jaina Solo hated this. These moments in the middle of the night where there was no fooling herself…where everything in the galaxy came crashing down around her. She felt vulnerable…and she hated it. Sitting in the cockpit of her ship on the way to find Boba Fett, she saw the two most important men in her life disappearing before her. Jacen, her Jacen…she was on her way to be trained to kill her own twin brother. Logically, she knew it had to be done, that he wasn't the same anymore, but her heart couldn't believe that her Jacen was gone forever, wouldn't acknowledge all the people he's hurt. Including Jag, she thought.

Jag. Fresh tears welled in her eyes, thinking of what she'd thrown away. She still loved him, deeply, but she refused to tell him. How could he possibly love her, after all she'd done to him, to his family? Jaina pushed him out of her mind. What good would fruitless hopes serve, other than making Jaina break down and cry?

Tahiri was past the point of tears. After so long, they seemed pointless. "Anakin…" she sighed. She felt so alone.

Tenel Ka sat on the bed next to her sleeping daughter, stroking the little girl's hair.

"We thought it best not to tell anyone," she said to the Solos. "Jacen…he thought it best."

"We understand, Tenel Ka," Leia was worried. "But what are you going to do about Jacen? You know that he's going to come after her again."

"Fact," said Tenel Ka, grimly, "But I fear my security cannot stop him from taking what he wants."

Han, who had been silent the whole time, chimed in, "Let us take her. He wouldn't expect it, and as long as we keep moving, he won't catch us off-guard." He grinned a little, "Besides, I'd like to get to know my granddaughter."

Tenel Ka sighed, "Very well. But leave now, and quietly, so you won't be detected." The Solos went off to begin the preflight as Tenel Ka woke and explained things to her daughter. She left the Millennium Falcon and watched it rise into the sky, taking her only daughter with it. Jacen popped into her thoughts. Never would she have expected him to kidnap Allana. He had changed so much; Tenel Ka believed the man she'd loved was dead.

Well painted passion
You rightly expect
Impersonation
The dumbing down of love
Jaded in anger
Love underwhelms you
No box of chocolates
Whichever way you fall
And if i tell you
Lover alone without love
What will happen
Lover alone without love
Will you listen
Lover alone without love
No no I'll get this
I want to treat you
You're still not famous and you haven't struck it rich
Underachieving
Cause no-one's receiving
This tunnel vision
Is turning out all wrong
Music is worthless unless it can make a
Complete stranger break down and cry
And if I tell you
Lover alone without love
What will happen
Lover alone without love
Will you miss him?
Lover alone without love
Without love
Without love
Without love
