Summary: Jacob goes to live with Bella after Edward leaves her in New Moon.

Chapter 1

Morning

I heard gravel on tires, and knew that Charlie was home. I was laying in bed, with a jacket on, a sweater, and a comforter over me, and yet I was still so cold. I was never warm these days. After he left me in those woods, all I felt was coldness. The only real warmth I could seem to feel was when the blood spilt upon my wrists, and even then it was only warm for a second before my blood also turned cold on my skin. I heard Charlie talking to someone outside, he was probably just trying to bring someone else from Forks High, hoping that talking to one of my peers would make me get out of this cold, dark state. But only seeing one person could make me happy, and he'd left me…

I heard the door open, Charlie said something softly to the person, and if they said something back, I didn't hear. I heard footsteps climbing up the steps and stop outside my door. I heard my door open quietly.

"Bella?" It was Charlie. "I brought someone that I thought might cheer you up." He said softly. Tears welled in my eyes, as I knew that only he could cheer me up.

"Who?" I said softly, hoping that if I said it quietly enough, he wouldn't hear me and think that I was sleeping or that if I said it quietly enough, he wouldn't hear me crying. I wasn't sure who got hurt more by him leaving me. Me from the pain or Charlie from seeing how much it hurt me.I heard the door close, thinking that he didn't hear me and that he'd thought that I was asleep. I heard the sound of something being set down next to my bed, and I jumped at the closeness of the sound. I turned over and looked. I saw a pair of legs. I looked up, and saw a very familiar face looking down at me with a small smile and compassionate eyes.

"Me." Jacob breathed. He sat down on the bed next me and it felt like I had a fire next to my bed. All of a sudden I felt the heat of everything that I had on top of me. "Aw, don't cry Bells. I came here to help you cheer up, not to make you cry even more." His eyes looked saddened.

"I'm not crying." I said, and my voice cracked.

"Uh-huh, then what's this?" he said as he wiped on my cheek with his thumb. It felt like someone had brushed a lit match against my cheek. When I looked, I noticed a tear melting away quickly into his finger.

"Well, at least I wasn't aware that I was crying." He chuckled. He turned and grabbed a tissue from the box that I kept on my night stand. He handed it to me. I took it and wiped my face. I gave it back and he placed it on my waste-basket that was full of tissues. He turned back towards me.

"Aren't you hot with all of that on?" He asked, tilting his head and noticing everything that I had on.

"Now I am," I said. He took my comforter off me, and offered me his hand. I took it, and he unzipped my jacket and threw it on my floor.

"Are you wearing anything under that?" He asked me, eyeing my sweater.

I nodded, "A t-shirt." I took it off and handed it to him.

"Why were you wearing all of that?" He asked me, looking at me curiously.

"I was cold."

"I could tell, but why were you cold; it must be 80 degrees in here." He chuckled.

"I'm often cold these days…" I said, looking away.

"Well, you know, I am kind of like your own personal heater over here…" I heard him chuckle and then felt the bed shift, as he moved around. He lifted me up, and then placed me in his lap. He put his arms around me, and put his chin on top of my head, engulfing me in a blanket of warmth. "Better?" He asked.

I placed my head on his bicep, and replied "Much."
