Katerina had long ago perfected the art of seduction by the time she had met the both of them. But the moment her eyes met Elijah's, she was ever the wide-eyed innocent again. He made her blush and half the time she could barely meet his eyes because she was sure he would be able to see the things she couldn't say within them.
He had such a wonderful laugh, and Katerina would often just close her eyes and try to memorize the sound so she would never forget. And his smile, when she was brave enough to gaze at him, was breathtaking.
She wouldn't tell him she loved him, wasn't foolish enough to do so without an admission from him first.
And up until the moment she found out he knew of the sacrifice, she had desperately wanted him to say the words.
It was only later, much too late for a second chance, that she found out she just hadn't waited long enough.
