Dissed and Dismissed

There was the usual bustling in the hall of Hogwarts between periods. Even Professor Dumbledore was trying to hurry to an appointment elsewhere in the castle.

There was, however, a rather strange sight jogging right in the middle of the traffic. There was an ink-haired, bespectacled boy chasing after a young woman with red hair. This boy was James Potter and this woman was Lily Evans. After them was a raven-haired boy who was looking slightly embarrassed at his friend. This was Sirius Black, and he was ready to comfort James when he got rejected. Again.

"Lily, would you like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" James asked hopefully. This blew Lily over the edge. She stopped strait in her tracks and spun around to James. Her green eyes were open angrily. "For the last time, 'No!" She screeched at him. Then she hurried to class.

The rest of the hall was hushed in respect at his attempt. He had a crestfallen look on his thin face. He was flushed in embarrassment. The next person to speak would be the wise Albus Dumbledore.

"Dissed and dismissed, Mr. Potter." Dumbledore said smiling slightly.

Everyone raised an eyebrow and cocked their head at their professor. There was a continuing awkward silence.

The next to speak would be Sirius Black.

"Strait up, Professor." Padfoot said sadly.

"Word." Dumbledore replied.

Then, everyone bit their lips and continued to class, where maybe the world could make sense again.
