It started out slow. Stiles was doing some research in his room, waiting for Derek to show up, when Rio by Duran Duran came on. His mom loved Duran Duran. Ever since he was four he knew every word to every hit and the majority of the words to the other songs. Even though they no longer blasted through his house at top volume or were sung out of key by his mother, he kept them on his iPod. He had started just humming along, but he just couldn't help himself. He forgot Derek was supposed to be there any second, he forgot his dad was downstairs, and he let loose.

"Her name is Rio and she dances on the saaaaannnnd!" he sang loudly, "Just like that river twisting through a dusty land! And when she shines she really shows you all she can!"

Now he was dancing across his room, not giving a single shit, and hoping on his bed singing into his fist. "Oh Rio, Rio, dance across the Rio Grande!"

He hopped off his bed rather dramatically as the bridge started and the song slowed to a different pace. "Hey now, woo, look at that..."

He stopped at the sight of Derek holding in laughter in the corner of his room. "Derek!" Stiles shouted, "How long have you been here?"

"For the whole song," Derek chuckled. Stiles stood there for a moment, a little shocked that he didn't notice and that Derek had seen all that.

Looking at Stiles' shocked face Derek started howling with laughter, now remembering this little kid jumping up and down like he was eight all over again. As Derek clutched at his gut from laughing so hard Stiles sat on his bed with a thump and pouted. But eventually Stiles saw how funny all of this was and started laughing too. Plus, it was nice to see Derek actually laugh for once.

Now "Is There Something I Should Know?" is on and as Stiles listens to the words he realizes something. "Hey!" he shouts.

Derek stops laughing and wipes some tears away from his eyes. "What?" he asks.

"This is our song!" Stiles shouts, getting kind of excited over the discovery.

"What do you mean?" Derek says, getting off the floor and listening to the song.

"Listen!" Stiles says excitedly, "I know you're watching me every minute of the day, yeah. I've seen the signs and the looks and the pictures that give your game away, yeah ." he sang the words to Derek, smiling the whole time. He waits till the chorus pops in to really make his point, "Please please tell me now, is there something I should know? Is there something I should say that'll make you come my way? Do you feel the same, cause you don't let it show!"

"See? We're always around each other and you're kind of like my personal stalker but you won't tell me how you feel about me. We've been dating for a little while now, but you still haven't opened up." Stiles says, getting all this off his chest while he can. "Do you love me, Derek? Cause you've got a funny way of showing it."

Stiles doesn't get to keep talking cause Derek is hugging him. Derek has never hugged Stiles before. Slammed him into walls, made out with him, and thrown him across rooms, yes, but hugging? Stiles was pretty sure Derek wasn't capable of hugging.

"Of course I love you," he says in Stiles' ear. "I've been in love with you since I found you and Scott combing the woods for his inhaler back when all of this first happened."

Stiles' mouth opens in shock, then he smiles and hugs Derek back.
