The rules have changed at Sakuragaoka High. Now you don't have to join a club. Suddenly members are quitting, clubs are disbanding and all the fun out of school has been drained.

And one little club is struggling to hold onto this happiness.

The Light Music Club.

The busy bluster of kids walked their ways towards the usual school assembly. Four girls: one neutral blonde haired who had her hair down along with a nervous black haired who did the same;; an energetic brown haired who pulled her bangs back with a yellow headband and another happy go lucky brown haired who used two yellow hair pins.

These special four people stood impatiently as the principal came up to the stage to give his address.

'Hey, Mugi…I'm hungry!'

'Later…I can pour tea for you at club! Let's have herbal tea today.'

'Ooh cake! I can't wait'

'Seriously you eat too much, Yui-sempai'

'Aw I know you love them too!'

'I like shortcakes!'

'Shut up you guys!'

Yes that's right, shush because a very important announcement was going to be made.

'From tomorrow on, it is not necessary for you to join a club.'

Cries and gasps echoed across the crowd. It was a pretty big announcement. For years it was important that you joined a club and it had been following this tradition very well. So why the sudden change?

The brown haired with the yellow clips looked at the other brown haired confused.

'Ritsu, what does that mean?' she said tilting her head to the side.

'Um….uh-'

'It means you can quit your club if you want now,' said the black, long haired girl.

This was Mio, she was pretty solemn after hearing the announcement.

'Yui, surely you aren't going to quit?' she asked worriedly.

'What? Of course not, The light music club is the only club where I can have delicious tea and cakes everyday, who would want to miss that?' she replied, drooling over the food she could be eating after school today.

Of course, that was the only thing she thought about.

The blonde-haired Mugi looked as relaxed as ever, thinking deeply about what she should serve the girls the next day at club. The one with the yellow headband, RItsu pulled her headband out and tried to fix it. It wasn't her attitude to do this….just somehow it didn't feel right to say anything at the moment, because what if everyone in the club quitted?

She was sure everyone thought the same too.

But it was funny though. They had been together for a little while now and surely their bonds should've strengthened? Yet why were they thinking about cutting ties at this very moment?

Please don't quit.

'Ritsu, oi Ristu!'

She came back to her senses. She looked over her shoulder where she saw Mio's worried face.

'Are you okay?' Mio asked

Clearly RItsu was different, Mio had known her for so long and knew by that serious face before that something was up.

'No, no just fine! Guys I'm looking forward to tea this afternoon, Yeah!' Ritsu shouted.

Mio looked at her not feeling the happiness Ritsu was trying to convey.

I know you're upset. Is it about the new rule?

Every year the school holds a performance for all the clubs that are in the school: to show their talents and to help recruit new members.

'Nu-uh, we are not going outside with animal costumes!' cried Mio.

She was always nervous and embarrassed about these things.

'Nonononono Mio, getting sweaty is feeling the heat!' cried Ritsu proudly

Yui looked at her confused.

'What?'

'You know, new rule, new change WE MUST GET MEMBERS!' answered RItsu

Yui clapped her hands together, smiling like an innocent child. She was pretty happy about the fact that they would have a chance to get a new member. Then after that happy thought she stuffed another piece of cake into her mouth. YUM.

After all that talks and acts, it was finally our show.

Just right before we were stopped by Mugi.

'Hey I brought a camera today!' she exclaimed. 'Let's take a memorable picture!'

The other three stood in silence.

'OH YEAH! Great idea Mugi!' RItsu cried.

'Yeah let's!' said Yui

'One picture okay?' Mio said shyly.

Carefully we positioned the camera on a table. Set the timer: 3…2…..1

CLICK!

And that was that. It had turned out so beautifully and thankfully Mio wasn't blurred out of the picture. Then they went on a rampage…

'Hey take a picture of this!' Yui pointed.

'And this!'

'This!'

'What about that?'

'This?' she pointed discreetly at Mio.

'Wu-wat?' Mio exclaimed, shocked.

On RItsu's head grew a freshly hit bump. Why me!

It was like time stopped. If only it could've for longer: the club can't disband.

All four of them burst into a fit of laughter.

Looking around Ritsu smiled. All her worries were for nothing. Yui would never leave if there were cakes and that was thanks to Mugi. Mugi was the one who thought of the photo idea and Mio, loves the bass too much. It was just great that it was the four of us.

After their performance, the eager girls waited impatiently for a new recruit.

Please please someone come!

'Another cup?' asked Mugi to Yui.

'Yes please hehe!' smiled Yui.

Mio and Ritsu were about to join in the conversation when they were interrupted by the screech of the door hinges opening.

'Hello?' a soft, shy voice asked.

A NEW RECRUIT! It was the angel that had descended upon the Light Music Club. She was the answer to their hope and it was good. Very good. That the new rule hadn't changed them at all.
