A birthday present to my sister. I watched some of the episodes once few years back, so this is the best I can do.

Disclaimer: I do not own Card Captor Sakura.

The prince stood at the top of the stairs, head held high. His hair was messy, as usual, but no one reprimanded him for that. There were some things that could never be tamed. His hair was one of them.

He exhaled quietly. Today was the day. After this, he would no longer be able to hide behind the mask of Li Syaoran. After this ball, he would either be so happy he could literally fly in the air, or feel so bad that he'll let the lightning god have his fun and keep shocking him.

Five years. That was how long he wore the façade of Li Syaoran, a commoner. That was how long he led a dual life.

That was how long he had known her.

When he met her for the first time in a common classroom, he sensed the power residing in her. He treated her as a rival, an enemy, for they shared the same goal: collect all the Clow Cards.

Their rivalry became more personal when he found out that both of them had fell for the same person. He worked hard to impress Yukito, while at the same time trying hard not to send the wrong message to the others. He was the prince. If others thought he was… gay, who knew what would happen to his country.

That crush ended as soon as he realized that he wasn't actually in love with Yukito. Both he and Sakura were attracted to him because of his strong moon powers. All those months, he was actually having a slight moon fever. And he thought that was merely fictional. But if that meant that he wasn't gay, why should he complain?

The prince walked down the stairs, all eyes focused on him, including hers.

After the moon magic stopped affection him, the feelings he had towards her started to surface. He was never good with expressing his soft side. Then his cousin was added into the mix. Amongst all the chaos, he was just glad she didn't tell anyone about his true status.

There were times that he wanted to stop this dual identity. His life was hectic enough with world politics without having to deal with 'school politics'. But he couldn't leave her, especially when that Eriol guy turned up. If the queen ever saw or knew of how he competed with the blue haired boy, he would never live it down.

The prince reached the foot of the stairs. Girls started flooding towards him, but he moved on.

He still felt bad for leaving Sakura after confessing his love for her. The queen wanted him to concentrate on his duties as a prince, afraid that he wouldn't be able to take the strain of pulling off two different identities. He guessed he panicked, afraid that if he didn't tell her that he loved her before he left, she would never know.

It was a while before he was able to return to Japan. The times he spent alone with Sakura were so awkward he almost wished that he never opened his mouth. He couldn't even imagine how he had tormented Sakura with his outburst.

But things worked out in the end. He even found out that she felt the same towards him. Although he had to return to Hong Kong after that, they still kept in touch.

The prince stopped in front of the girl he loved. He would explain everything to her later when they were alone. But for now…

"May I have this dance?"

Reviews would be nice. Happy Belated Birthday to BeckyXD.
