Pale pink cherry blossoms fluttered in little gasps, following the breath of wind that always seemed to blow through Tenkai. Propped against one of the larger trees, Konzen half-dozed in the warm morning light, his long golden hair glittering in the sun. All and all it was a peaceful morning.
Except for the squirming monkey splayed out across his legs like he was some damn yoga mat or something equally obnoxious.
"Stop picking at it." He growled.
"But it's so weird!" Goku prodded the earth again and squealed delightedly at it prodded back.
"I'm telling you, Goku, if you don't stop right this second…" He threatened, a weary eye on his charge while the other remained resolutely closed. He was not a morning person after all.
"My, my…you two sure are active this morning." Konzen cracked his other eye and glared at the sloppily dressed Marshal.
"Tenpou." He nodded once and closed it again.
"Ten-chan! Look! Look! It's soooo wiggly!" Goku about folded himself in half trying to grab Tenpou's tie and keep his position across Konzen, his favorite place in the whole world, of course!
"Oh, a centipede, you should be careful Goku, they bi…te. Oh my."
"OWWWW!!!!" Goku sat up hurriedly, his reddened finger swelling remarkably as he shook it back and forth, tears staining his pink cheeks.
"Goku, I told you not to poke it!" Konzen leaned in and captured the feverish hand.
"Konzen! It hurts~~! OWW~~!" Goku stopped mid-sniffle as Konzen brought the inflamed finger to his lips and gently ran his tongue over the torn flesh.
Sitting back he patently ignored both the big-eyed wonder shining in Goku's quickly reddening face and Tenpou's knowing smirk and flashing glasses.
"Wah? Konzen, why?"
"They're poisonous. Besides, it doesn't hurt anymore, does it?" He quipped, a small frown starting to furrow his brow at the reverent way the boy was cradling his hand.
"Huh? Oh. No, no it doesn't. Wow! Konzen, You're amazing! I want super powers too!!"
"GAH!!! GOKU!!"
Tenpou smothered a laugh as Goku veritably glomped Konzen into the tree, the movement sending a cascade of blossoms down to carpet them. He smiled softly at the pair, their limbs entwined under the canopy, soft giggling wafting back and forth on the breeze. Smiling wistfully he hoped he was around to see the two when Goku was all grown-up. They really were just the cutest.
"Ow." Tenpou muttered, long fingers rubbing the goose-egg that was already forming.
"Now how the hell did he manage to lop this at me from all the way over here?" Grumbling slightly, Tenpou wandered off in search of someone else to pester.
