((Disclaimer: I don't own FullMetal Alchemist, 'kay? But I did happen to get really bored at a restaurant today, and drew a picture of Edo-kun's face on a napkin using only purple, yellow, and orange crayons. So I suppose I own the napkin. Just not the subject matter/materials.))
Author's Note: No joke. I did. And he looked pretty damn hot, too. Anyways, this was my first attempt at poetry, and while it could be considered original, I ended up doing something that could also easily be considered a Ling and Ranfan piece. Now enjoy the sweat and tears I put into it. ... Figurative sweat and tears, of course.

She was waiting for him.
She was waiting for him.
He was right next to her.
But she was waiting for him.

Why wasn't he back?
Why won't he come?
Has he gotten lost on the way?
Frightened, alone?

The man turned to her;
Eyes being as slits,
Not the kindness she loved;
Felt as her heart skipped.

Unfamiliar feelings.
She was afraid.
This was not the one she waited for.
Not now, not any day.

She was waiting for him.
She was waiting for him.
He was right next to her.
But she was waiting for him.

Eyes were turned soft.
And narrow with a smile.
Sometimes true, sometimes not.
Only there for a while.

Those were his eyes.
Wily and knowing.
These were not his.
These were dangerously cloying.
x-x-x
Voices shattered silence.
The sounds deep and scratching.
His claws were as ice.
Touches always scathing.

He was right next to her.
But she was waiting for him.

Struggling for her.
Struggling for her.
A hand trying to grasp.
He was struggling for her.
x-x-x
His frightened heart pounding.
Frightful winds howling.
Seeing fear in her eyes,
As he felt his own mouth scowling.

Always watchful and careful.
Moments passing, always silently
Bleeding hearts fluttered.
He was surveying, almost tirelessly.

He was drifting sleepily,
An absolute loss of counts.
He had only minutes to go.
But numberless days had gone out.
x-x-x
Struggling for her.
Struggling for her.
A hand trying to grasp.
He was struggling for her.

Greed's taken over.
Their words spurred by guilt.
Quests for the stone,
Ending's been spilt.

Mercilessly pounding,
Pain drives him forward.
Soft touch gives him peace.
He turns back for her, only her.

Hands stretching out.
Reaching for her.
Missing by a mile,
Left between them, nothing but words.

Struggling for her.
Struggling for her.
A hand trying to grasp.
He was struggling for her.
