A/N: This is just to help with some writer's block on my story Elemental Changes (that is really writer's crazy thought process.) This has been swimming around my brain. And since I can't swim I figured I should type this up. It is kind of based on the song "According To You" by Orianthi. It's a one-shot.
"What are you doing here Jacob?" I asked, staring at the tall, tan, muscular man I used to call my boyfriend.
"Trying to find out why you left me for that guy." He said, pointing past me. I turned and saw Edward standing behind me. I turned back to Jake and looked into his eyes. I saw one of the many reasons I left him. There was no sadness or remorse or guilt. Only anger. Anger that I dumped him for someone else. Someone he probably knew, WAY down deep inside him, was a much better man than he was. Then he would ever be.
"You want to know why I left you for him? You want to know why I decided he was better than you?" I asked, coldness filling my voice. He nodded simply. I stepped to side and gestured for him to come inside. I saw Edward's confused eyes and I mouthed that it was ok. Not to worry.
After Jake was fully inside, I shut the door. He started taking off his jacket but I stopped him.
"You won't be here long. Why waste time?" I said. He nodded and walked into my living room. He sat on my couch and waited for me to speak. Edward wrapped an arm around me, giving me the strength I was lacking. That was keeping me from beginning my explanation.
"There are a few reasons I left you. One is the look in your eyes right now. I can tell you aren't saddened by this at all. Nothing in you is hurt by my leaving you except your ego." His expression stayed stoic. That was true. "But the biggest reason I left you for Edward is how you view me." He looked slightly confused at this. "According to you, I'm stupid and useless. I can't do anything right. I'm difficult, hard to please, and I always change my mind. According to you, I'm practically a mess in a dress. I can't show up on time." I took a deep breath before continuing. "But according to him, I'm beautiful. Incredible. He can't get me out of his head."
Edward's hold on me tightened and I felt myself get even stronger. And suddenly I couldn't stop myself. I didn't want to stop myself.
"According to you, Jake, I'm boring, moody, and you can't take me anywhere. I suck at telling jokes because I always give it away. According to you, I'm the girl with the worst attention span and you're the boy who puts up with it. But according to him, I'm funny, irresistible. I'm everything he ever wanted." Jake was starting to loose his stony façade. He looked almost guilty. Almost. "I needed to feel appreciated. Like I'm not hated. When I think of you two, everything is opposite. And I don't feel like stopping it. So, Jakey, tell me what I got to loose. He loves for everything I'm not. According to you." I stepped forward, coming out of Edward's hold, took Jacob's hand and looked right into his eyes.
"According to me, YOU'RE stupid. YOU'RE useless. YOU can't do anything right. So get the fuck out of my apartment and out of my life." I could hear the venom dripping from my voice as I said that.
I led him to my door. Jake walked out and turned back around to face me. He opened his mouth to speak but I shut the door in his face and turned to Edward.
And to my new life without Jacob Black.
