A Moment of Happiness

Bobby stretched his arms over his head as the movie he had been watching ended. After rolling his neck he turned to look over his shoulder at the body on the couch.

Alex Eames was curled in a semi ball on his couch, her eyes closed and a hand hanging off of the couch. Her blonde hair shone from the light of the lamp next to the couch. She looked so peaceful he didn't want to wake her up yet.

He slowly stood up from his spot on the floor, stooping to pick up the empty Chinese take out boxes. Before he headed to the kitchen he leaned down and pressed a kiss to his partner's head. She gave a small moan and shifted in her sleep.

After throwing the boxes away and turning the movie off, he made his way back to the couch. Trying not to disturb her, he placed a blanket over her body. Once again, she moved in her sleep. This time she spoke. "Thank you baby,"

"You're welcome." He said softly, a smile on his face. He sat down in a chair next to the couch. He had been reading a book for a few minutes before he felt eyes on him. Glancing up he was met with Alex's brown eyes staring at him.

"Hi," she said softly and he smiled.

"Hi back,"

"How long have I been asleep?" She asked yawning.

"Uh…about an hour." She nodded but stayed in her curled up position. She was warm and didn't want to move. "You wanna go to bed?" He asked, looking back at his book.

"No I'm good." She said, continuing to stare at him.

"I can't read when you're staring at me babe." He said with a smirk on his face.

"Funny, you can do it at work." He chuckled and set the book down.

"Work is different." He said, standing. She watched him walk over and crouch on the ground next to her. He brushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "Hello gorgeous."

She smiled and took his hand, pressing a kiss to his fingers. "I like watching you read," she said, making him smile.

"Why's that?" He tilted his head to look at her.

"When you read nothing else matters. Nothing else exists. You're in your own little word and you're happy. You're always the happiest when you read."

"I can think of another time that I'm happy," He said as he moved his fingers through her hair.

She gave a content sigh. "When's that?"

"When I'm with you." She gave him a smile.

"Aren't you a sweet talker?" He chuckled and she sat up.

"I thought you didn't want to go to bed?"

"I don't," She said, moving the blanket. "You're going to join me." He gave another chuckle before climbing onto the couch and lying behind her. As she spread the blanket over them he wrapped an arm around her waist. She rested her head on his shoulder and he heard her sigh as she got comfortable. "This makes me happy," She said softly.

He kissed the top of her head. "I'm glad."

A few minutes later her heaving breathing told him she was once again asleep. Pulling her closer to him, he placed another kiss on her head before closing his eyes.
