Hi, I wrote a sad one shot.

It's a mini one. And now It's time for me to go to sleep. Good night!

And enjoy.

I only own the plot.

It's been 20 long years..

She waited 20 years for The Mayor to return. She still sits at the reception desk, watching the door, waiting for The Mayor to open the door and greet her with a smile that brighten up her day.

During those twenty years things have changed.

Tortimer had passed away 9 years ago, Digby had died a year ago, all villagers had moved away and none had moved in. A few Shops had closed down due to no more customers coming in and retirement, the greenery had wilted due to no one watering them. She couldn't water them all by herself since she was too weak.

Isabelle would have illusions, sometimes, that they were sitting in their chair; She would have walked over with her cane towards the desk to ask her dear Mayor what do they need help with, only to find it was only an illusion. That they weren't never there in the first place.

She sometimes think she hears their voice, or a knock on the door.

Today was going to be her birthday, December 20th. She wanted to celebrate this day with everyone, but, there was no one to celebrate this with.

Maybe The Mayor would come back to celebrate it with me! Isabelle thought, with a big smile on her face.

She waited and waited 'till it was 11:40 pm..

Isabelle still smiled looking at the door.

The Mayor is probably just running a little late.

When The Mayor get's here, maybe we can go outside and look at the night sky in winter, play in the snow, and maybe I can give The Mayor the present I had wrapped for them.

Isabelle blew out one lone candle that was sitting on top of a slightly old cupcake and clapped her hands.

"Happy birthday to me!~" She giggled.

I feel a little sleepy…

Her eyes felt heavy, her vision was darkening out.

I…I'll just take a quick rest. I'm sure The Mayor will be here by the time I wake up.

Isabelle crossed her arms on the counter and laid her head on her arms, falling into a deep sleep.

Taking her final breath.
