A.N. This story came to me after listening to "So she dances" by the amazing Josh Groban. It also was written over 2 years ago.
He wakes slowly, missing her warmth, his arms reaching out searching for her, finding instead an empty space where she should be. He turns his head towards the clock, it reads three a.m, Sighing he rolls out of bed,his bare feet hitting the cold floor.
Getting up he gathers his robe around him. Still not quite awake he goes in search of her.
Making his way through the study he steps on something, pain shooting through his foot. Hopping, he lands hard against the doorframe, cursing to himself he continues out and up the stairs.
Making his way down the hall he sees light filtering under the partially closed door. He opens it gently not wanting to startle her.
For a second the room looks empty, then she appears.
Her long silk nightgown flows around her ankles with each step she takes. She 's humming softly holding their child in her arms, dancing slowly across the room.
Moving with the grace of a ballerina ,she sways gently careful not to disturb the sleeping child.
A ray of moonlight filters through the window catching them as she turns. He stands there captivated, held by the beauty of the scene playing out before him.
She continues to glide effortlessly about the room a serene look covering her face.
The baby's head resting on her chest, her hand gentle, she soothes tiny circles over their child's back.
She turns sensing his presence. Her face flushing with embarrassment, till she sees the love emanating from his eyes.
Smiling he steps into the room, making his way to them, taking them both in his arms. Leaning down he places a gentle kiss to both their heads.
They continue to dance, their child nestled snugly between them .
