Every morning that I wasn't being held hostage or being shot at, I made a point to go running.
The simplicity of it, one foot in front of the other was so different from everything else in my life. There was nothing complex about running. No small-nation dictators to please, no police chasing you. Everything falls into place.
When I got back to Miami, and it became clear that I would be here for a while, I made a point to buy an iPod. But not just that, I rediscovered music. It had been years since I had sat down and just listened. But in my off hours, thats what I found myself doing.
Lady Gaga.
Green Day.
Adam Lambert.
I loved it all. And then I discovered Next To Normal.
Never before having had an interest in show-music, I scoffed when Sam gave it to me, a gift from one of his lady-friends for a small job I did. So I shrugged and listened to it.
By 'Everything Else' I was hooked. From there I went on to discover the brilliance of telling a story through music.
Next To Normal.
The Last Five Years.
Guys And Dolls.
I fell in love. It's the simple things that make life what it is, all you have to do if find them.
