Nightmare
Written for SneverusSnapers' One-Shot Challenge.
I ran faster and faster panting as I did so. I glanced behind me quickly to check if it was still following me. But, when I looked forward again a tripped. So, I was on the ground with an unknown muttation following me. I tried to scramble to my feet but somehow they were glued to the ground. I was stuck. I wriggled and squirmed but the harder I tried, the tighter the imaginary glue held. I heard the sound of leaves rustling. I prepared for pain. I squeezed my eyes shut but I felt nothing. When I opened my eyes I saw a giant snake. I was green and shiny and when it opened it's jaws I saw a pair of razor sharp venom coated fangs. The snake slithered closer to me. I squirmed a little more and I freed myself. I jumped up and hit the ground running. I pumped my arms and didn't dare to look back in the fear of losing my footing again. Suddenly I felt impact hitting me from behind. I fell to the ground and let out a blood curdling squeal. The snake curled itself around me squeezing me tighter and tighter until I had no air left in my lungs. It then opened it jaws to deliver the bite that would end my life. It lowered it's head to my neck and bit down hard. But, I didn't feel anything.
My eyes flew open and I immediately tried to comfort myself. But then I looked around and saw were I was and I immediately wished I was back in my nightmare.
I was in the arena.
