They all knew it, all three of them. It was like the elephant in the room. But they were scared. Of course they'd be scared, they were in the middle of a wizarding battle that would end this war once and for all. So why didn't anyone say anything – it made sense to if there was a chance they would die any second. Ron saw the intensity in Hermione's eyes whenever she looked at Harry. And not just today - but the way she's looked at him ever since he saved her from the troll in their first year. He saw that Harry looked back with just as much. There was something else in their gazes though, something much more than when Hermione looked at himself. But then why did Hermione just kiss Ron in the Chamber of Secrets? He thought it was real, he thought it meant something for both of them. But then Harry returned. It was almost as if Hermione had forgot about Ron, all of her attention was on Harry. He revealed to the two of them that he was going to have to die, to eventually kill Voldemort. Ron saw the tears flowing from her eyes. He heard her when she told Harry she'd go with him, not once thinking about him. He could feel how tightly she hugged him for the last time. He could almost smell the faint scent of her. Ron's heart sunk. Shamefully not because he was going to lose his best friend to the darkest wizard of all time, but because he knew deep down that Hermione loved Harry more than she could ever love him. She loved Harry in a way that Ron would never be able to feel. Harry looked up at Ron. All the emotions in his eyes started to bring a tear to his eyes. Pain, despair, hopelessness left Ron feeling nothing but guilt. Harry's arms held Hermione tighter. A tear fell from his eye as he reluctantly let go of her. He dragged his eyes up at Ron. The look he gave said it all. 'Just, take care of her for me'.
