Dean let Sam go to Stanford once.
Then it was Dean, who left, so that Sam didn't have to.
Then Sam left to save the world and then Dean was gone to Purgatory. And Sam left him there.
Even after they were finally reunited, they kept dancing around each other, because they thought, that what they once had was ruined beyond repair.
Now his brother wanted to leave for good, because he didn't think he was worth living anymore.
As Dean's holding his brother's crying frame, he knows he'll never let him leave again. They were meant to be together.
