He dreamt of starlight, and of a girl as fierce as she was beautiful, with flame coloured hair. A girl that walked among stars, and killed spiders and orcs with deadly precision and grace.
He wondered if she could ever love him, the girl that walked in the stars. But how could she, an elf, love a dwarf like him? Her kin's prisoner, and enemy. They were as different as night was to day.
She was graceful, calm, fast, and taller than dwarves, as elves were; and he? He was loud, mischievous, clumsy, rough, and shorter than she, although he was taller than most of his kin.
Oh, but she was so beautiful, and interesting, and fierce. He wondered if she was there now, among the stars. Or if she was dreaming about him, as he was of her.
He knew, somehow, that she was different than the other elves, than her kin. She was special.
Through his dream, he heard a voice, her voice. It felt like it was coming from beside him, though he wondered why. His eyes shot open with a strange sense of overwhelming pain. He couldn't tell if he was dreaming, but the agonizing pain that had bade him to open his eyes, told him otherwise.
Seeing her face through the agony of his wound, brought him peace through the pain of the poison. He knew though, that it must be some kind of hallucination brought on by some strange medicine, the poison, or the pain. She was not there, she was somewhere among the stars, far away. He heard her voice, somewhere in the back of his mind, speaking in her native tongue, one which was foreign to him.
Suddenly, the pain faded, as did the starlight, though her face still remained. Though wether it was a hallucination brought on by the medicine, or a dream, he did not know. She looked relieved to see him, as if she had come to Laketown after him. As if she cared about him.
He wondered if it was, for she was far away with the stars. He wondered if she ever could love him. For he loved her, he realized. He loved an elf, he loved Tauriel.
Feeling as if he was in a trance, he saw her looking down at him, and brought his hand up to touch hers. Holding it, he looked back at her, and realized he had wondered aloud, and so he awaited her answer.
Maybe it was not a dream.
