Tears ran down Leo's face. Being angel had its disadvanages. Phoebe's birthday was yesterday. Her birthday wish was silent, but he could read her mind. She wished Prue could be their whitelighter. The elders had said in order for that to happen, Leo would have to leave the Halliwell's. Though Piper never said it, he knew she too wished for Prue as their whitelighter. It was one rule none of the sisters knew of. Leo secretly had been afraid of their choice. Though Piper loved him, he couldn't be sure it was enough to choose him over Prue. Piper, Phoebe, and Paige were all laughing in the kitchen. As Leo layed on the bed, he imagined Prue's laughter as well. Something he had gotten used to but was ripped away so quickly. The right thing to do was clear, but it hurt so damn bad. Piper was everything to him, but so were the sister's happiness. Staying wasn't an option.
Leo orbed in front of the elders. They look at him sadly.
" Make Prue their whitelighter."
His voice so choked and strained, it broke their hearts. One of the Elders walk up to him.
" Are you sure Leo ?"
" Yes..."
" And you know the consequences ?"
" Yes..."
" Ok, then. It shall be done."
Prue and Leo join hands. Then a white light glows between them.
" Can I say goodbye to Piper ?"
" Yes, but it must be quick. You've got five minutes."
Leo and Prue orb down to the Manor. All three sisters look at them stunned. Leo walks over to Piper and takes her hands.
" Piper, I've come to say goodbye."
" What ? I don't understand."
" I can't be your whitelighter anymore. The only way I could give Prue back, is to leave for good."
" Leo...I can't do this...your my husband."
" Not anymore. I love you Piper. Goodbye and take care of each other."
Leo kisses her passionately, then disappears. Piper falls to the floor in tears. Prue instantly is by her side, while the other sisters are to in shock to even move or speak.
" Piper...sweetie. It'll be ok, I promise."
" I've lost my husband. How will it be ok Prue ?"
" Because I'm here and I'll make sure it will be."
Piper continues to cry as Prue holds her. The other two leave the kitchen in their own sorrow of what has happened.
Two days later, Prue is still helping a grieving Piper. Piper has refused to let Phoebe or Paige near her. Penny and Patty both appear in front of Piper in her room.
" Piper Jane Halliwell. As your mother, I am demanding you stop being stubborn about this !"
Piper looks up in shock.
" Mom...Grams. You don't understand."
Patty looks at her sternly.
" Oh yes we do. We know Leo done this out of love Piper. For all of you !"
" I never asked him to mom !"
" You didn't need to. Leo already knew."
" So because we missed Prue, I lost my husband ? !"
" No ! Leo knew you needed Prue."
" But I need him to !
" Piper...what's done is done. It can not be changed. So please just be grateful, and for the sake of yourself and your sisters, move on with life."
Without another word, both Patty and Penny disappear.
