Twins Know Best

"Did you have any fun last night?" Padma asked her sister. It was the day after the Yule Ball and the Patil twins were sitting out by the lake, discussing the previous evening.

"It was alright, I suppose." sighed Parvati. "I'm guessing Ron spoiled the ball for you?"

"Only a bit," said Padma sarcastically, "he didn't even dance with me. Not once! At least Harry danced with you for a while."

"He only did because he had to!" Parvati argued with a smirk. "Besides, Harry was staring at Cho Chang and Cedric Diggory all night. I think he wanted to go to the ball with her instead."

Padma shook her head disapprovingly. "Boys are so ridiculous. Aren't you two friends? Why would Harry ask you to the ball if he didn't want to go with you?"

"Well, he didn't have much of a choice, did he?!" Parvati practically shouted to show Padma just how loud her own voice had gotten. "He needed to take someone to the ball with him. Imagine how embarrassing it would be to be the only Triwizard Champion without a date?"

"That's true." Padma's face softened. "But what about Ron? And why was Hermione screaming at him?" She asked her sister. Parvati, being a Gryffindor, had been around the three of them more often and may have held the answers to Padma's questions.

"Padma," Parvati smiled, "didn't you notice how jealous Ron was of Krum?"

"Well, maybe he was a little distracted..."

"Isn't it obvious?"

"What?" Upon making a realization, Padma's jaw dropped and her eyes went wide. "No!"

"Ron fancies Hermione."

"It must have hurt him when she yelled at him last night." Padma said in a whisper that could only mean she was excited.

Parvati wasted no time in revealing to Padma what exactly she'd heard. "Hermione told him to stop being such a baby and next time there's a ball to ask her before anyone else has a chance."

"So Hermione fancies Ron?"

"I think so."

"And Ron fancies Hermione?"

"Definitely."

Padma furrowed her brow and whipped her head around to face her sister. "Do they know?"

"I don't think so." Parvati chuckled.

"Should we do something?"

"No," she told Padma with a smile, "it'll be the right time when they find out for themselves."

"How long do you think that'll take?" asked Padma, watching Ron and Hermione speaking with each other on the opposite side of the lake. Ron must have told a joke because Hermione covered her mouth and began to giggle, causing Ron to grin and chuckle along.

"Who knows..."
