Happiness wasn't real. No one could have it all. That's what this day was full of, reminders that they would never truly be happy. That when a shred of happiness was visible all that would follow was hurt and pain.

What was the point of trying to breathe, or trying to get back what is lost?

She gasped for air as the garments that represented happily ever after were ripped from her body. The tears that represented the lost and pain she was suffering wouldn't stop. As much as she tired to angrily wipe them away they kept on pouring down her cheeks.

Love and trust was forever lost so what was the point of breathing.

Collapsing onto the floor as Meredith covered her with a blanket. Closing her eyes she shut out the pain. Her breathing was returned to normal but the ache in her heart only swelled. He was gone and she was left to repair what was broken.

As the darkness slowly crept away the sun came into sight. The pain she felt was replaced with anger. He made her believe that he loved her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. And then he just walked away.

Showering away the foolish idea of love and the promises of happiness she rebuilt her walls again. From now on Surgery was going to be her life, never again was she going to put her heart on the line.

She would be alone.

Ava didn't mean a thing. In reality there wasn't an Ava she was Rebecca. She was a patient. He wouldn't be Izzie falling for a patient. He'd screw a patient. But Alex Karev doesn't fall for anyone especially not a patient.

There was Addison who just told him that she was leaving. He was kind of sad about that. He had sort of grown to respect her, and her specialty. And she of course was easy on the eyes. But somehow she got the impression that there could be more she wanted a relationship.

She wanted to be apart of his life. Just like Ava. He managed to run them both out of his life.

He was alone.

Sitting in the church she was reminded of her confession. He was a married man. The man that she had fallen for was married. Oh god she was becoming like Meredith. This was the last place she thought she'd end up. She was supposed to be happy living a life with Denny.

Then he died. And everything changed.

George was her best friend that turned into something more. He was there when she needed him.

She needed him now. But she knew that he wouldn't be there because he had a wife. And he was going to make it work. Closing her she wished he wasn't so noble. That he would walk away from his wife and just be with her.

But she knew better. She wiped the tears that slipped down her cheeks.

She was alone.

What was he going to do? He had a wife and they were going to start a family. He failed his test and decided that he couldn't bear to be an intern again while all his friends around him were residents.

In these moments where he doesn't have anyone to turn to he misses his dad. His dad would know what to do. His dad wouldn't have helped him fix this mess he created. Happiness was slowly slipping away.

He used to be able to turn to his best friend but now even she expected things from him, things he couldn't give her.

He failed everyone. His father, his wife, his best friend and even Bailey.

He just wanted to be alone.

It was over.

No matter how much she loved or wanted to be loved the dark and twisty would always win. Nothing would ever be right in her life.

Watching what happened to Cristina only proved her point. Something was always going to go wrong.

So she was going to forget about all the failed relationships in her life. Forget all the pain that love causes.

She'd be alone.

A/N: My take on the crappy ending of season 3. Hopefully the interns (soon to be residents) will stick together more. Tell me what you think.
