My goal in life is to have the largest collection of bad aurikku poetry anywhere. Come to think of it, I think I already do.
Bits of this (or maybe the whole thing..) were inspired by Rikku's songs "Hadashi no Kiseki" and "Without you". I don't know if I'm evil or not. If you've read the lyrics to those songs, then you can tell me.
I watched the rainbow stretch away into the distance,
Thinking of you.
If I could walk across that rainbow,
Would I come to that faraway land
Where you live?
Would I find a place I only half believed in
Inhabited by my memories of you?
What if memories really are only memories?
I hate those words I spoke so long ago.
Long ago when you were still here
And I didn't know.
Never thought to tell you.
It seemed you would be around forever,
Like everything else.
How was I to know
That you were about as solid as that rainbow,
And just as full of lights.
Dead funeral pyre lights.
You could have told me.
Maybe then I wouldn't be missing you…
Maybe I'd be remembering all the times I hated you
Instead of remembering you fondly,
You big meanie…
You aren't just a memory.
Someday I'll cross the rainbow too,
And walk among nameless flowers
With ghostly scents.
And I'll say the words I only had courage enough
To write in the sand
Down near the water where the tide
Swiftly swept them away.
I wonder if you're watching me from beyond the rainbow
And laughing.
Somehow it wouldn't surprise me,
You big meanie.
