An Average Night

"Hi Sweetie, how was your day?"

"It was good, the kids did great today but I'm exhausted."

Nick came up to her and gave her a hug before laying his hand on her rapidly growing tummy.

"Hi little guy." Nick whispered.

"There is a surprise for you in the fridge." He told Jackie with a smile.

Jackie smiled and arched her eyebrows at him.

She walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge.

"A Frappe, thank you hon, that's sweet of you, what's that for?" She asked.

"Just because, and I just saw a commercial for a pizza that looked really good and since you are tired why don't we order a pizza for dinner, that way you don't have to cook."

"That sounds like an amazing idea to me." Jackie told him.

"Ok, I'll call and order it."

"Thanks." She said.

Jackie then felt tugging on her leg.

"Hi sweetheart." Jackie said as she scooped Sloan up into her arms after he had come over to say hello.

"Hi." Sloan babbled.

Much to Nick and Jackie's relief Sloan's vocabulary now included several words other than his first word which was damn.

He could now say hi, dada, mama, sis (sister), der (it took Nick and Jackie awhile but they finally realized he was trying to say brother), ba (baby, it was so cute because he would always lift up Jackie's shirt, point, and say ba), gam (grandma), gamp (grandpa), and last but not least da (which was either dolly or dog, Nick and Jackie weren't sure yet).

"Ba?" Sloan said as he pointed at Jackie's shirt.

"Yep, the baby is in there isn't he?" Jackie told him as she kissed his forehead.

"Der?" He asked.

"Yep, he's your baby brother." Jackie said.

"Sis?" Sloan asked.

"Nope, not a sister, a brother."

"Der?"

Jackie laughed, this conversation could go on a while.

"Yes, brother." She confirmed.

Sloan then started to wriggle so Jackie took the hint and set him down.

He wandered into the other room to join his siblings.

Soon the doorbell rang, it was the pizza delivery man.

Nick answered the door.

"Roni?" Karlie asked Nick as she stood next to him as Nick handed the man money to pay for the pizza.

"Yes I ordered pepperoni." He assured her with a laugh.

"That's my little girl's favorite too. She always peels off the pepperoni on everyone's pizza and eats it." The delivery man told Nick.

Nick laughed.

"Thank you, have a nice day." The man told Nick as he was about to leave, appreciating the tip Nick gave him.

"Thanks you too." Nick replied.

"Is the pizza good guys?" Nick asked the kids as they sat around the table eating.

"Yeah, roni good." Karlie replied with a grin.

"That's good Karlie, how about the rest of you, is it good?" He asked.

All the kids nodded.

"And how about yours mommy, is it good?" Nick asked Jackie.

"Delicious, and what makes it even better is the fact that I didn't have to make it."

Nick laughed.

After dinner Nick and Jackie gave the kids their bath and then tucked them into bed.

"I'm tired, I think I'm going to call it a night too." Jackie told Nick.

"Ok, I'll be up in a bit, goodnight, love you."

"Night, love you too." Jackie said as she went up the stairs.

Nick sat on the couch and smiled. He loved laid back nights at his house with his family, the nights when nothing really special happens but they were all together and happy!

The End!
