Anyway, this is set about two weeks after chapter seven of Surviving Ironback.

Back to School
He couldn't believe they were doing this. Before the incident, this had been their most despised place in existence. What the hell were they doing here?
Lance groaned. "Do we have to? So soon?"
"I just want things to be normal again…"
"…If you say so…"
Lance crossed the threshold of Bayville High, along with Kitty Freddy Rogue and Todd, who had made the 'normal' comment. How could he expect things to be normal? Nine of their classmates and a drill sergeant were dead; murdered by a legendary fiend who wasn't supposed to exist.
He sighed again, anticipating the stares and whispers he knew were coming, and sure enough they did.
"Oh my God!"
"The ones who lived"
"I heard he had his lungs torn out-"
"-she never stood a chance-"
"Dude, Jason's a myth!"
"It's a conspiracy!"
"Nuh uh! He totally killed those guys-"
"That big one took him down"
"-the cops shot 'im"
"I think they did it"
"-sexually abused as a child-"
Todd held his head high. The others were having trouble adjusting, but he knew the score; the sooner they went back, the sooner this would blow over.
If it could blow over…
And suddenly and without warning, Todd's worst fears at this point were realized.
Walking swiftly towards him was Duncan Matthews. He was about to turn to run, but he saw the jock's face. Duncan's eyes had dark circles under them, and he looked extremely worried. Todd wasn't sure what it was about, but he wasn't afraid. Duncan addressed him in an uneasy tone.
"Are you alright Tolansky?"
Alright? ALRIGHT? What the hell kind of question was that? Todd glared at him with an intense loathing.
"Yo, I got my collarbone sliced in half with a machete. What the fuck do you think?"
Duncan winced as Todd passed him by, biting back the guilty tears. The newly formed X-5 uttered a collective sigh.
Yep, Lance decided. This was gonna be a long day…
