AN: Dedicated to the wonderful vbollman, as her birthday is today.
I've never managed a one-shot before, let alone something this short. Should I continue it?
Domestic Bliss
After a long day at work, Harry and Severus were glad to return to their quarters. A hard day of dealing with bratty children, they were happy for the peace afforded in the privacy of their rooms. The presence of their four young children was a wonderful benefit.
The family ate dinner and shared stories of their days. The children had, as usual, spent most of the day under Dobby and Winky's supervision. Severus and Harry spent their free periods (Harry also spent the kindergarteners' nap time with the children) with little Severus, Ellen, little Harry, and Lillienne.
After dinner, the Potter-Snape household (elves included) sat down in the living room to read, grade, and do homework. Dobby and Winky were reading a battered book titled House-Elf Childbirth and Childrearing while little Severus and Ellen worked on their homework: identifying, through pictures, different Potions preparing techniques. Severus and Harry alternated reading to little Harry and Lillienne and grading.
By eight o'clock, the two-year-olds were beginning to nod off and the four-year-olds had finished their work and were starting to get tired too. Dobby and Winky stayed in the room to read while Severus and Harry put the children to bed and had an early night.
After some fun in bed, Harry curled into Severus's embrace. Something about Harry seemed off to Severus, and the last few days, he had been unusually quiet.
"Harry, is something wrong? You've been quiet lately, and haven't been eating much. Do you want to talk about it, love?"
Harry sighed, which let a stream of cool air across his husband's chest and made a certain part of Severus's anatomy take interest. "Sev-luv, how would you feel about more kids?"
"Well, in a couple years I was thinking we might…"
"No… like, now. As in, six months from now, we'll need the nursery again now."
"You mean… you're sure that… six months?"
Harry smiled. "I went to Poppy this morning while the kids were playing outside, and she confirmed it. I'm three months along with fraternal twins again."
Severus sat up and rested his hand on his young husband's flat stomach. "Why aren't you showing yet? Have you thought of any names yet? Are the babies okay?"
Harry propped himself up on his elbow and rested his hand on top of his husband's. "The babies are growing fine, they're just small. The reason I'm not showing has to do with the effect magic has on a male carrier's body: it re-strengthened my abdominal muscles and it causes my muscles to hold the womb in. I'll blossom in two weeks or so, and I'll grow quickly after that. I was thinking of Abbey for our daughter, but I've no idea for our son…"
"Thomas, perhaps?"
Harry curled back into Severus's embrace, hand still entwined on his stomach. "Thomas and Abbey, I like it. I love you, Sev."
They settled back down to domestic bliss.
