Okay, so this was tough. I'm in a poetry mood and trying a few things out. I know there are mixed feelings about Kikyo, some people love her and others absolutely can't stand her. I think she was just a person who was given a life with an unbearable strain. And the moment she let down her defenses she died a horrific and tragic death. Even though her hatred is misplaced, I still think she's an important character. So I wanted to try a poem about her personal feelings. I'm not sure how I like this one, so I'll leave it to you guys to tell me how I did. Any constructive criticism is welcome. I love writing and your reviews make me smile all day. Thanks!

Kikyo's Despair

You and I were so alike

That I believed your lies

When you said you wanted your life

To be tied with mine.

Trusting you sealed my fate

And seeing through your lies too late

Yet, I have a reason to bear this hate

For my shoulders carry a heavy weight.

I wanted a simple life

With you by my side

Never having to fight

A battle that wasn't mine.

I should have seen your treachery

And never wanted the life you promised me

Protecting the jewel was my sole duty

But I imagined our union with such beauty

That my heart still burns with the heat of betrayal

But what hurts more is knowing that I failed

Still, with my arrow, I swore to prevail

Knowing it was the only way to end the tale

My arrow struck you in the chest

I thought the pain would stop then

But my soul will not rest

Until I see you dead
