~*~Two in the morning the telephone rings
Somehow I knew who it was
Cause baby its always the same old thing
When you need my love~*~
*Ring* *Ring*
22-year-old David Gordon rolled over and fumbled for the phone, catching a glimpse of the digital clock whose red numbers red 2:21, clearing his throat he said hello.
~*~You say it's over again and again
It's time you've had enough
But girl I know you've been fighting with him
When you need my love~*~
"It's over between Chris and me!" Lizzie McGuire swore over the phone line, Gordo sighed inwardly and rubbed his eyes trying to wake himself up enough to communicate.
"What happened?" Gordo asked, although he all ready knew the answer.
"Nothing can I come stay with you for awhile?" Lizzie pleaded, "I know the last time Chris and I fought I came over too, and the time before that, but Miranda lives so far away."
~*~Oh I wish I could just say no
And get you out of my heart
It must be nice to have some place to go
When your world falls apart~*~
Gordo took a deep breath, "Lizzie I don't know-." Gordo could hear Lizzie's sigh of disappointment and he felt his heart constrict, "Lizzie I don't know why you even asked, you have a key and you know I have a spare bedroom."
"I don't have your key." Lizzie replied.
"All right, I'll let you in when you get here." Gordo sighed when he set down the phone. He knew how this situation was going to turn out, it always went to far, he promised himself every time that he and Lizzie wouldn't end up in bed, but every time they did.
~*~He'll call tomorrow with the same old line
And you'll forget about us
And I'll be lonely until the next time
When you need my love~*~
The phone rang at 10 the next morning and Gordo reached over and lifted the phone off the cradle before it could wake the sleeping blonde next to him. "Hello."
The voice on the other end wasn't surprising to Gordo, "Gordo can I talk to Lizzie?"
"Yeah hang on." Gordo handed the phone to the woman, she had been woken when the phone rang.
"What do you want?" Lizzie was glaring when she picked up the phone but her face softened as Chris spoke, "I love you too. Yeah I'll come home now."
~*~Oh I wish I could just say no
And get you out of my heart
It must be nice to have some place to go
When your world falls apart~*~
"Thanks for everything Gordo." Lizzie said pulling on her clothes, "And about last night, I'm sorry…"
Gordo shrugged in response, "We weren't thinking."
Lizzie hugged Gordo, "Thank you so much for everything I know I can come to you whenever I need to."
"Bye Gordo." Lizzie practically bounced out of the room.
~*~Now someday someone's going to love me true
And baby when she does
Then I wonder what you're gonna do
When you need my love~*~
Gordo sighed as he walked down the streets of his town. Lizzie's late night visits after her fights with Chris always left Gordo depressed he had always been in love with Lizzie and he always let himself think that things really were over between Lizzie and Chris and there was a chance for Gordo and Lizzie. But there never was, and Gordo knew that deep down.
"I'm sorry." A soft voice spoke as the two walked into each other.
Gordo turned his attention from the ground to a pair of beautiful blue-gray eyes, "That's all right it was probably my fault."
The woman smiled brightly, "It was both our faults then." Recognition dawned on the woman's face, "Aren't you in my Lit class?"
