Lisanna stares at herself, reflected in the cold, unforgiving glass of the bathroom mirror, chipped and cracked and mounted to the wall.
The shower is on, running hothothot, like liquid fire, and she is standing before it, imagining her hair soaked in kerosene.
But she refuses to burn.
It gets hard to breathe when the steam comes in, and her head is spinning in a hurricane of colors and some fifty shades of disappointments and 'try harder's.
Lisanna lets the towel slide into a pile on the smooth, tiled floor and traces the curves of her body with her own fingertips. With a hand steadying on the glass in front of her, she watches, with electricity running through her eyes, as she slowly disappears into the fog on the mirror.

.
Lisanna sees her for the first time, a girl who sort of shines like the stars seem to love her. And without realizing it, she falls in love.
Lucy Heartfilia, the girl who smiles with galaxies in her eyes.
Lucy Heartfilia, the girl whose laugh is like a song, musical and magical and utterly impossible.
Lucy Heartfilia, the girl who offers a hand to someone like Lisanna, a nobody who is not magnificent, buried under six feet of imperfections.
Lisanna falls in love with the girl she wants to be.

.
It is six minutes after school has ended, and Lisanna tries not to stare as Natsu kisses Lucy near the cherry tree.
She watches as they are laughing and smiling, faces equally flushed in the chilly fall air.
She watches Lucy's hand intertwine so naturally with the hand of the boy who stole her childish heart.
Lisanna walks home alone, cold and heartbroken for all the wrong reasons.
.
.
.
She sits in the shower, beneath the stream of scalding water, and runs shaky hands through her hair, bleached white like emptiness.
Lisanna wants to cry because Lucy Heartfilia is beautiful and loved and everything she isn't.
She watches the last bit of herself run down the drain, feeling like nothing but a cheap imitation.
