Spring Morning
(for illbewaiting and Jix)
The morning sun was pouring in through the open window, a soft breeze coming into the room and dancing around the curtains, occasionally turning a page or two from the open book on the desk.
In this light, he looked beautiful. His golden hair stuck out in all directions, falling mostly over his peacefully closed eyes. He was curled on his side, the stuffed bear he'd gotten on their anniversary shamelessly poking its head out from between his arms.
The redhead smiled. It wasn't very often he saw him this peaceful. It was also rare that he was up way before him.
But it was a special occasion.
Axel was leaning against the doorframe, carrying a tray loaded with banana pancakes, watermelon and honeysuckle rinds, freshly squeezed orange juice and a handful of wild daisies as a special touch.
He wanted to wake him up, to get started on all the activities he had planned for the two of them today; yet he stood back a while longer, contemplating this portrait of comfort before him.
Roxas sighed in his sleep and pulled the bear closer to him. Had it been any other day, Axel would have taken picture after picture and used them for blackmailing purposes. But now he had to hold back an intense desire to cry out "Awww". It would spoil the surprise.
He finally shook himself awake from his small reverie, steadied the tray in his hands and placed it softly on an empty spot on the night stand. He then leaned down and brushed the hair out of the Roxas' face. With a small grin, he planted a gentle kiss on his forehead.
Roxas murmured something and his eyes fluttered open. His sky blue eyes met Axel's own bottle green ones, and he smiled. Right then and there, Axel wanted to spend the rest of his life with him.
He stroked the blonde's cheek delicately and said, "Happy birthday, Rox."
Author's Note: That's right- After four long years, I'm back! I feel like my writing skills have been in a complete coma. This is the first thing I've actually written I consider good enough to publish here. If any of my readers are still around, I'd like to apologize to them for the monstrous hiatus. I am back, and will be updating the fics I started soon :)
A few fun tidbits: This fic was inspired by the song "Harmony" from the FullMetal Alchemist Soundtrack. I totally recommend you find a way to listen to it while you're reading this, since the time it takes to read this is the exact length of the piece!
