It was not much, but somehow the day had been perfect. Spur of the moment, they had found some microwave popcorn and some instant hot chocolate mix. Room service delivered some extra coffee cups and milk for them, and they spent the entire day curled under the blankets, watching movies and snuggling.
Shuichi smiled, raising his head a little so he could glance out the window. New York City lay under several feet of snow, bringing the normally bustling metropolis to a standstill. All flights were delayed, no one roamed the streets unless they absolutely had to be out, and he and Tohma were snug and warm after a day of tramping around in the white stuff.
"Don't move," a sleepy-sounding voice murmured. "Nothing's changed. It's still cold out there."
"I know," Shuichi replied, settling back into Tohma's embrace. A light smile touched his lips. "There's a lot of snow out there."
"It can stay out there."
Shuichi giggled in response. He knew he was seeing a side to Tohma very few rarely got to see, and he very much liked this cozy and snuggly part, as he called it. He liked it a lot, especially since Tohma would let go of nearly all his inhibitions and simply relax. Given his profession kept him busy with almost little or no time to truly rest, it amazed Shuichi that his lover had not made himself sick over the years. It was something the vocalist knew he could not change about Tohma, just as he could never have stopped Eiri from writing his books, but he believed he could give Tohma more relaxed moments like this.
"You liked the snow earlier," Shuichi said.
"That was earlier," Tohma replied. "This is entirely different."
"And how do you figure that?" the singer asked. He could not help himself! Something about simply laying there and cuddling together left him feeling all giddy inside. It was how he knew he was in love with Tohma.
"This is how."
The older man nipped on Shuichi's ear, his hands sliding down to the singer's hips. Shuichi shivered in pleasure from both touches and sighed with a contented feeling. He knew where Tohma was going, and he would gladly follow.
It had been a perfect day, after all.
