Haley James Scott had just officially reunited with her formerly-estranged husband Nathan Scott. After many fights over Haley spending too much time with Chris Keller and the drama added by Haley's older sister Taylor—who also happened to be the one that Nathan lost his virginity to two years before—Nathan and Haley had been through a lot in the short time that they had been married. When the opportunity for Haley to be an opening act on a rock tour came, she took it, breaking Nathan's heart in the process. After many months of heartbreak, Nathan had turned back into the jerk he was before Haley. Focusing only on basketball and High Flyers. So much so that when Haley eventually did come home to be with him, he left for basketball camp anyway, separating them once again. Once he came back to town when school started they got off to a rocky start and had to rebuild their relationship from the ground up. After the tragic school shooting that ending in the death of Nathan's Uncle Keith, Nathan officially asked Haley to live together and be a real married couple again. During a weekend getaway with friends, Nathan re-proposed to Haley, saying that he wanted a second chance and they decided to renew their vows. With basketball season going on and Lucas not being able to play because of his HCM heart condition, the Ravens needed to win the tournament in order to make it to the play-offs and get Whitey his State Championship.
