Escape
The moonlight was singing to her tonight. Usagi was glad of it. The extra hum of power kept her moving despite the exhaustion that had stayed with her ever since the fight with Galaxia – with Chaos.
She leapt through the night, backlit by the full moon, running to nowhere and for no reason other than escaping the memories that haunted her.
Usagi pulled just a bit more power, a touch more speed. Her wings fluttered madly behind her as she all but flew over the city. She could, if she chose, actually fly. But the strain on her muscles was welcome, needed even.
Bodily exhaustion to match the exhaustion of her soul.
With both she just might be able to sleep – a feat these days, one she only seemed to manage when she stayed with Mamo-chan. Her parents' home was no longer a place of rest for her. Loved and cherished, yes, but not peaceful.
During the day, or when she was with her friends or her beloved Mamo-chan, Usagi was honestly happy. Everything was wonderful and perfect in those moments. At night, though, when she was alone, she could only recall the aching emptiness. The void that was knowing everything, everyone, was gone.
It had been such a brief moment, yet it stuck with her. Drained her, even while it kept her from her rest.
And so Eternal Sailor Moon ran over rooftops seeking comfort from the moonlight; and escape from her memories.
