A/N: A short drabble I thought about when I should be studying for Astronomy.
...
Yui stared at her hands for long moments, the pale and smooth skin seeming to absorb the moonlight that danced out of the large windows. Silence reigned supreme inside the small house that she had stumbled upon. The people inside long since quiet as they watched the small woman pluck at her shirt.
Just two hours before she came running in here due to the full moon. Fear and adrenaline pounding through her small frame and taking over any and all of her thoughts. There was seemingly no room for logic during this time, no room for apologies either.
Shakily putting a hand in her pocket she pulled out a small crucifix. It was the elaborate kind that had scroll work and small pink gems inlaid in the center and on the points, resulting in a gorgeous item that seem much to luxurious for a priest's daughter.
"God," She whispered. "please...Just this once..."
She jumped when she heard one of the occupants in the room get up and snatch the item away, the sound of metal connecting with the tile floor sounding like the final bell that signaled an execution. "What are you begging forgiveness for?"
"Because I-!"
"Idiot." A cold hand forced her to look into acid green eyes, her own rose colored ones blinking back tears. "It was only right."
Jerking away she gazed anywhere except at Ayato. The fireplace on the other side of the room that was still crackling cheerfully with its orange plumes, the small couch that had piles of books on it, and the mighty rocking chair that was as grainy and old as time itself. Sitting on it was a young woman wearing a pale colored dress that was frayed at the ends. In her hands was a small bible that was now covered in blood.
Yui slowly stood up from her spot and took a few steps over to the woman, closing her now sightless blue eyes. "I'm so sorry for taking your life."
"She can't hear you, she's dead."
"I-I know." She stiffened when a pair of arms wrapped around her waist and brought her close to a strong chest. "But I shouldn't have, she was so nice letting me in from the rain..." Her eyes grew warm as tears threatened to break through. "And all I could do was betray her."
"Did you promise not to kill her?"
"No, but-"
"Then you didn't betray her, she was the idiot who let you in." He pushed her closer to the body. "Now finish the job, I know you're starving."
Biting her lip Yui stared at the bloody corpse before her, doing her best to hold back the wild urges that held sway over her body, but her resolve soon broke when a cool breeze played about the room bringing about the smell of fresh blood.
Bodies will surely drop tonight.
