Disclaimer: Don't own Kingdom Hearts, Sephiroth or Aerith.

He only knew the role of the villain. He knew how to destroy - how to destroy life. He knew how to kill.

He knew how to make Cloud suffer. He knew how to use a sword too. He knew he had lost count of how many different sword combos he had learnt in his life.

He knew the role of the villain very well. So, when the Cetra Girl came to him, he responded as a villain, for he knew nothing else.

"Sephiroth! Wait!" Aerith would yell, and he would wait.

"What is it that you want, Cetra Girl?" He would ask, and he wouldn't use her name. It would look too familiar. Villains don't get familiar.

"It's Aerith!" And she would be somewhat angry. But that would be okay - it was in the role of the villain to make the 'good-doers' angry.

"I want to help you!" Yes, she too knew the role of hers well. A Healer...

"Help?" And he would respond to her, if just to...

"Yes, to make your Light shine!" And she would look at him with sparkling eyes full of hope. As a villain it was his job to make that hope disappear.

"I do not have any Light in me. I'm the Darkness." He would slay that hope of hers with sharp words. It was the role of the villain.

"But you do! For there is Light in every Darkness! With my help you could..."

He wouldn't let her finish. "I do not need your help." And he would leave then.

For no villain ever would accept the help of something so pure, so full of Light.

And if Sephiroth was good at something, it was knowing what villains filled with Darkness do.

Even if some small part of him had always wanted her help.

I'm thinking that I should only write short oneshots. It seems that they are easier to write. I don't know if this counts as Sephiroth/Aerith...
