I do not own young justice.

Barry did not agree with this. Wally wasn't just a hero he was a beloved son, nephew and friend. Yet Wallace Rudolph West had a small funeral with only close family there to see him off, whereas 'Kid Flash' was given a huge ceremony with all of central city getting a day of mourning, a procession going straight through the town center and then a monument erected to stand watch over a grave.

An empty grave. Because kid flash didn't exist. He was a game that got out of hand, an indulgence for an excitable young speedster. Kid flash would never even come near the level of greatness that Wallace West achieved and yet he would be mourned by so many more. Barry punched the wall leaving a noticeable dent. He heard a small sigh behind him and turned to see his pregnant wife and his grandson from the future. But not Wally. Never Wally. Never again.

Iris kissed him on the cheek stroked Bart's hair and quietly walked away, she would watch the funeral on the news, she didn't want to see it twice. Barry was surprised at the amount of money that had gone into this but, he supposed, when your best friend is a billionaire you tend to get a good funeral. Barry and Bart made their way into the black car waiting outside and so the procession began. It would weave through town going past the places that were important to kid flash. The first bank he ever saved, the rooftop where he first met Robin. Barry looked down at his hands trying to forget how he led his innocent and eager little nephew to his death.

"What are they holding?"

The question from Bart snapped him out of his trance. At the side of the road stood about thirty people in a line, each holding a red or yellow balloon. Most balloons had a letter on them and as they drove past Barry read the message "We'll race you up there, kid" as soon as the car passed each balloon was released one by sprung to Barry's eyes as he took in the people who were holding them: Richard and his brothers, Bruce, Artemis, some of the rougues, some of the first people Wally ever saved.

Now Barry started to pay attention. Thousands of people flocked to silently watch the hearse go by, there were more balloons, flowers, signs thanking him, they drove past an office block that Kid Flash once stopped a man from jumping off and Barry saw a lone figure standing on top of it with the words "We will never forget" spray painted at the top.

As they drove through the streets Barry began to make the connection between kid Flash and Wally because whilst it was kid flash's powers that helped all these people it was Wally's heart that saved them, as Barry came to this final conclusion the tears broke out and he jumped out of the slow moving car, ran into the crowd and hugged a random person, he noticed Bart follow his lead hugging a small girl who was in tears.

The two speedsters walked along with the procession comforting people in the crowd and offering support, because whilst these people would never get to meet Wally, they would always love him. And that was enough.

Not my best work but I still wanted to post this. It was a bit short and a bit rushed and far too sappy but I still quite like it. I will never forgive yj for killing my Wally-kins :(

Thank you for reading my story :)
