Nalu Week 2015 - Gratitude
While there were things that would sometimes go wrong in his life, Natsu felt rather than bemoaning it, he'd learn from it. During the aftermath of Tartarus, he decided he'd get stronger. He would protect his nakama better. That way he wouldn't have to lose anyone else precious to him. That's what he concentrated on during his year of training.
Besides, while there were plenty of stuff to be sad about, there were other things he was grateful for.
a) He was raised by an awesomely cool dragon. The king of dragons in fact, the mighty Igneel.
b) He got to be trained by said dragon.
c) His best buddy was a flying cat, who was really all around great. They'd practically been inseparable from the moment Happy's egg hatched.
d) He had Fairy Tail to return to. Fairy Tail was his family after Igneel disappeared. They took him in with no questions and he had found a group of kids with whom he could play, fight and eat with. The adults, too, joined in on the fun. And no matter where he was or what he did, he knew Fairy Tail would always welcome him back. That right there was some pretty good stuff, in his opinion.
Sure there may be some ice princesses, who swore they could beat him in a fight. But, honestly, that wasn't a problem for him. He relished a good fight. It got his blood pumping and the heat that would flow through his veins would only urge him on. Heh. He thought, by the end of his training, he'd be able to take on Laxus. Lightning head wouldn't know what him. It would be great.
Which brought him to his next point.
e) Fairy Tail would always be there. He knew he left without letting anyone know. But he left Lucy a letter, and Luce, would tell the rest. Yeah it was a shitty thing to do. But they'd get over it. And if he were being truthful, it was one of the hardest things to do. Lucy was his partner, just as he had Happy's back. She had Natsu's and vice versa.
And man, while there were many things he was grateful for, he sure did miss Lucy's bed. It was way comfier than his bed, not to mention the ground he was currently lying on. It smelled like Lucy too - in a totally not weird way. He also missed the way she would scrunch up her face and tell them (he and happy) not to enter her room, when she clearly wanted them there. Luce was weird like that. He did not miss her Lucy Kicks... or maybe he did. Was Lucy's weirdness contagious? He shuddered.
Mostly though, he missed her. That was the reason why delivering the letter was so hard. Writing it was hard. Heck, he didn't even want to picture her face when she read the letter.
Shit.
He had some serious making up to do when he returned to Fairy Tail.
He flipped over on his back and stared at the night sky. He tilted he head to left. He thought he could maybe see Virgo. The constellation that is, not the spirit. Lucy had shown him how to find them already, but they had all just looked at like white dots in the sky. Still it made her smile, so it was worth staying out those nights. And he really did try to pay attention.
Natsu felt his lips curving, yeah he had something else to be grateful for. He had the night sky before him, dotted with Lucy's spirits. If he thought of it that way, then Lucy was pretty close by, wasn't she?
