Sonic the Hedgehog Goes To McDonald's
The telephone lines danced, fading in and out of focus under the blazing sun. Droplets of sweat decorated their bodies like diamonds. As the heat rose, so did their anticipation.
"We're almost there." Two others grunted in agreement as they stared longingly at the golden arches before them.
Amy closed her eyes. Her mouth watered as she dreamt of all the riches in that cool palace. It was all hers for the taking! In a few minutes, she would finally taste victory. She brushed a rose-colored quill out of her eyes to get a good look at the hedgehog in the seat beside her.
Though his eyes seemed focused, Sonic's mind was racing faster than his legs ever could. If only they had chosen the drive-in, his choice would be so obvious. Without the safety of his favorite comfort food, so many delicious and spectacular options awaited him. Would he find paradise between two premium patties grilled to perfection, or perhaps in one of many specialty dipping sauces delivered on a crispy cloud of pure white meat chicken? Should he douse his fiery thirst with a McCafe Mango Pineapple Smoothie, or simply compliment his craving with a classic cola? Only one thing was certain: he would soon taste the golden, salty perfection he'd been lusting. They all would.
"We're here!" The two hedgehogs were brought back to reality by the good word of their driver.
"Bless you, Tails." It seemed Knuckles was equally eager to begin the feast.
The doors of the Tornado opened slowly, hot air rushing out along with the vehicle's ravenous passengers. They began the final leg of their journey. As they approached the entrance to their sacred temple, a familiar scent washed over them in a sensuous wave of grease, salt, and sugary sweetness. It was time.
Sonic felt a cold chill as the breeze from the air conditioner kissed the sweat on his skin. He stared at the glowing menu in dismay – they had added all new combos and value menu options! With so many treasures to choose from, how could he decide on just one?
Amy gently placed her hand on his shoulder. He turned to look into her big green eyes, and she smiled. The pink hedgehog had sensed his anxiety. "Sonic," she said softly, stroking his arm slightly, "whatever choice you make... whatever choice you make will be the right one. There is no wrong answer." She spoke only the truth. He couldn't believe it, but his air-headed companion was right.
"Thanks, Amy."
Her eyes lit up as he acknowledged her; her gentle smile broke into a grin. "And besides, we can always come back tomorrow!"
With a new found confidence, Sonic approached the counter...
