Beneath an oak tree

Watching the sinking sky

Family laughter behind me

Caressing me with love

Geese leave trails

In the tranquil waters

Sea grass floats with the waves

And my troubled heart is stilled

Standing without feet

In the muddy shore

She smiles at me and giggles

As the tide holds her prisoner

I smile in return

And look about the horizon

Thinking of what's to come

Despite where I've been

Worries and doubts

Eat at my soul

My future is unsure,

And I am confused

I am secure here

Nothing can change

If only for a moment

I am at peace
