Eye of the Storm

So… those of you who have me on author alert may have noticed my NCIS fanfictions That I've been posting recently. If anyone reading this is interested in that, I hope you check them out! I'm rather proud of them…

This has been written for quite a while actually…

It was windy. The wind was blowing- no, howling through the trees. The rain was pouring down by the bucketful. In between the lightning, the night was black. Not vague black lines but complete and utter darkness. Trees were blown sideways. Not swaying or rocking. Just… sideways. There was simply no other way to describe it. James was inside. Idly staring out the window, determined not to go to sleep. Kendall, also in the room, also awake, was staring at James. He wasn't normally like this… Only during storms like that one. Kendall let his eyes drift around the room. He traced crevices in the walls with his eyes, looked for patterns in the ceiling. James sighed and Kendall's attention snapped back to him.

Maybe he's ready to lie back down…?

James looked at him. Searching for something to connect with… anything to connect with. Seeing nothing, he turned back to the window's bleak view. Loud, rattling thunder shook the pane of glass. James appeared not to have noticed. Leaves from the nearest trees blew towards the window and blocked parts of the view. James looked away with a barely-there huff and what could be traces of a pout lingered on his features, as though the leaves had personally offended him.

He drifted back towards Kendall and climbed into the bed in a way that suggested his preference to be looking out into the night. Kendall smiled and pulled him closer. James resisted at first, as he always did, but he soon gave in and snuggled into Kendall's warm body. He fell asleep quickly, but Kendall lied awake. Listening to James's breathing, thinking.

Eventually he slept too, as always, his dreams racked with nightmares and twisted realities. As were James's.

But that was okay.

Because they went through this during every bad storm.

If you have any requests, I'd be glad to give them a shot. I'm having a bit of a writers block right now though, so no guarantees on how fast that they'd be written.
