Prolog

Found something? I heard Lena's voice inside my head.

"No. Why isn't there some Caster book with all strange creatures in the Caster world?" I pulled the gloves off my sweaty hands and looked over at Lena. She shook her head, too exhausted to look up from the paper she unfolded in her lap.

Maybe we just didn't find it, yet. This one here is about Caster animals and how to create them.

She sighed and folded the parchment back together. She didn't think we would find anything in the Lunae Libri but she refused to lose hope.

"Let's go home, L. You should get some sleep." Her eyes met mine. One green, the other yellow. Both framed with dark circles.

That was when a breeze went through the aisles and we sat in the dark.

"Ethan!"

"I'm here, L. Are you okay? What did you do?" I reached my hand for her but instead I grabbed the parchment paper she held and burnt myself. Over the pain in my fingers I felt panic rise up in Lena.

I didn't do anything. It wasn't me.

"I think the sun is up." Once again I reached for her and this time my fingers found hers. I pulled her up on her feet. "It means that we are trapped in here until – "

I couldn't say it. And I felt that Lena didn't even dare thinking about what just happened.
