New Consoles
They aren't quite the same, but there's nothing fancy about their differences. Just four consoles brought off child support money – a ridiculous name in itself, considering we are each other's only real support.
By now, Shiro and I have used them so many times, our fingers and toes have memorised every insignificant little detail about them. And that's just another meaningless game: a game where there's no high score but provides a little boost in other games – because if you know your consoles as well as your body parts, it's that much easier to make your play on screen.
Not that it's necessary: the games are getting too easy to beat now, together. Even when Shiro's asleep, I can play – one console per hand or foot – and keep our titles.
Even Shiro can on her own, even if the opponent pulls a fast one she tends to miss (though facing her in a strategy game is a whole different story). There's nothing out there to challenge us anymore, to interest us. We changed the consoles and new plastic doesn't feel foreign before long. We change the game, and we're pros within the first match.
Once upon a time, games and new things were novelties. Now, they're just as boring as the rest of the world.
