Maka Albarn was healthy when it came to love. That was because she didn't belive in it. Why bother in love when it had ruined the strong firm relationship of her parents? Her mom was hurt and her dad would always do the same thing over and over. The failed relationship of Kami and Spirit Albarn had triggered immune emotions about love into their daughter.
Yes, Maka was immune when it came to love and men in general. But then, all of that changed when she met her weapon partner; the Demon Scythe Soul "Eater" Evans. He was the one that changed Maka's point of view in how a man should act around a woman.
Despite all the pointless bickering, name-calling, insecurities, embarrassing moments, and painful head concussions from her hard-covered books, Soul would always protect her from danger and almost died for her safety. He would never leave her. He'd do almost anything for her.
It was after they defeated Asura, he was promoted to the Last Death Scythe title, and the passionate first kiss that he gave Maka a couple of weeks after Death The Kid's enthronement ceremony that Maka discovered something.
That Soul had poisoned her heart with a feeling that she never had in her entire life.
She was poisoned...with love.
And she liked it. A lot.
