Pieces

Rei messes up, Aya is hurt, and Yuuya is there to pick up the pieces.

The park was lush, green and fertile all around. The sakura trees that were scattered everywhere added a splash of color and the blossoms danced in the breeze and blew past him. Yuuya Asou squinted against the sun, trying to find the head of black hair he had seen just minutes ago.

Aya Hoshino was here at the park - crying - and he needed to see if she was alright.

He still saw nothing, but his sensitive ears heard the gentle choke of a suppressed sob. Yuuya blinked. His ears perked up and he waited. Again, he heard a soft yelp. A few feet away from him was a particularly large sakura tree and he rounded the corner.

"Aya..." he whispered, kneeling beside the pretty black haired gal.

The said girl sniffed, hurriedly wiping her tears away. She looked up and offered the blonde a watery smile.

"Yuuya-kun. What are you doing here?"

Yuuya leaned back and sat down. "I was driving by and I saw you. I wanted to make sure you were all right. Are you?"

Aya looked down. "I-I'm fine. Thank you for your concern."

"I would buy that if you weren't such a horrible liar." Yuuya said, in an attempt at humor.

Aya laughed weakly. "I just saw something I shouldn't have."

"Would you care to elaborate?" He waited patiently for a response.

When he was given none he reached for Aya, slipping his fingers under her chin and gently tilting up. Her copper eyes met his amber ones and he smiled. Soothingly he said again, "Tell me Aya."

So she did.

An hour later Aya felt like a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders. She had never suspected for anyone to understand or listen the way Yuuya had.

She appreciated him more than anything.

When she had walked in on Rei telling Ran how he felt about her she had felt like she had been slapped.

She had always thought he would never be able to tell anyone, let alone Ran but apparently she was wrong. So now, there would be something going on between him, Ran, and Tatsukichi and Aya wanted nothing to do with it.

No more. Rei wouldn't play with her anymore. But despite her resolution, it still hurt like hell.

She gingerly leaned her head against Yuuya's shoulders.

"Arigatou, Yuuya."

"No problem." he gently kissed the top of her head.

When Yuuya was enveloped in the scent that was uniquely Aya, he couldn't help but decide that Rei was an idiot, and that picking up the pieces and fixing the broken wasn't so bad.

A/N: Yay! All done. R&R please.
