Why. Why would you say something like that, Eren? Can't you see? It's a lie, isn't it? Can't you remember how it was before? That we were family, that we are family. Tell me Eren. Why?

She stares, looking on at the scene before her. There are blood splatters and fragments of broken glass covering the floor. Spread out along with cracked bones and damaged bonds. Everything is in shatters—squashed like it was nothing, that their friendship—their connection didn't matter anymore. That it was all for nothing—but it can't be, it just can't, right?
"...Just stop."
Her voice is no more than a whisper. Her mind is muddled, full of thoughts screaming at her, toppling over each other. But the one that's the loudest is one seemingly simple word:
Why?

That hope we all had our eyes on... ...what was that?
It aches, his head pulses painfully in time with his heartbeat. Memories and promises—his promise to Erwin, it all echoes in his mind. It all spins around and around in an eternal sickening cycle. The weight of it all pulls at him, makes it hard to breathe.
He knows it; they are regrets. Because after everything, after all the death and blood and pain. Is this it? Was it all worth it to save their hope? Again and again and again?
But even so, there is no doubt. He will make sure that their deaths were not in vain. No matter what. Their fallen comrades—their friend's sacrifices, he will give them meaning.
That's his duty, as the living. He'll wield his blades, until the bitter end, until it's over.
Erwin...
He looks back.
A movement captures his eye. An outcry rips through the air. The sound slices through the quiet.
His eyes widen.
"...No."
But it's too late.
Along with bright flashes, hell comes tumbling down.
And he's in the middle of it.
Well, I actually wanted to write something fluffy and happy for a change. But chapter 112 had other plans for me...
Man, this chapter just destroyed me... I just want to wrap everyone into a big hug. I want them to be happy and safe... but yeah... this is Attack on Titan... Ugh.
