Stormcage Dreams
The days melted together as rain poured from the heavens; the sky was dark, and the air dank and moist from the wetness that seemed to seep into everything after awhile. It was grey- or rather, everything was grey. It was surreal, and much like one of those Earth movies from the 20th century I had studied at the university. I sleep a lot. Truth be told, there's not much else to occupy my time. My mind is too active for this place, and madness is not an option this early in the game. Luckily, I have my dreams. Dreams of adventure, of new planets, that buzz one gets on the edge of death followed by the slideshow of my life that flickers momentarily over my eyes- before I escape, that is. But mostly, I dream of him. My Doctor- or at least he is now- with all of his impossibilities and strange quirks. I dream of being swept away on some sort of journey, where we will inevitably get into trouble, and he will inevitably save the day. These dreams are not entirely composed of what was- most are actually possibilities of what could be, and what sort of future I have in store for me. For him. For the both of us. What else is there in these shadowy halls of concrete and steel; sorrow, and rue. One must have hope- and he is mine…
"Hello Sweetie…" a familiar voice hissed into her ear, causing her to jump in surprise- flailing slightly with every hair on edge.
"D-doctor!" River stuttered, standing quickly to meet his eyes. "You- it's- I-"
The Doctor smiled, grabbing hold to his wife's waist, and adjusting his head to meet her nose to nose. "Now darling- is that any way to greet your husband? I also seem to recall that we haven't been on any sort of a honeymoon- now have we? Where shall I take you first?"
River raised an eyebrow while formulating an apt response to his statement. Now that all semblance of shock was gone, only minor irritation remained. "Doctor, it's been weeks. Actually- it's probably been over a month! Where have you been?"
"Doing some cleaning aboard the Tardis. She likes that, you know? Keeps her quite pleased! Now hurry! We have people to see and places to meet! …Wait, I did say that right… didn't I?"
