Diary of a wimpy kid is about a boy named Gregory. His family including Rodrick and Manny was having a doggy day summer. Gregory encounters a series of events that ruined his summer beginning with his summer love.
His mother wanted to have a family get together this summer, but everything changes after he sees Heather Hills. However, he soon realizes that she`s totally out of Greg's league but Greg was still determined to impress her. Heather is in high school, she also is a life guard.
The past few days Greg has been going to the pool to see Heather. Greg tries to help her out but she really doesn't notice. For example, this one time these guys were drowning kids in the pool. It didn`t really work. He kept and doing it till her next shift. What was embarrassing about him impressing Heather is that there was this one guy who threw up next to the life guard stand and Greg did not want to clean up but he had to. When he came back she was already gone.
A couple days later there was a special surprise for the family. The whole family went to stay at grandpas for the afternoon. For some reason they were talking about the past and it all came up to this. Grandpa was talking about the time when he ran over dad's dog. Then the whole family left but when they got home dad was still in the car and he started to drive for a long time. A couple hours later they found a box at the door. It was a puppy!
After the puppy got home Greg just realized that he had to go to a swimming meet. When they started the game everyone was going so slow that Greg decided to walk fast. The couch did not realize so Greg did not get disqualified. He won a ribbon. Rodrick thought that it wasn`t a big deal for it and he said that they just need someone to win. This book was really fun. I loved the comedy. I would rate this book five starts. It had a lot of detail and more comedy. I would recommend this book to my grandpa because he was really funny. My favorite part is when Greg watches that weird movie the mud hand. I also like when they run out from the room and scream. I hope you love this book.
