Percy Jackson awoke after a peaceful night of sleeping. The first thing he saw was Calypso planting moonlace. Beautiful, he thought. He wondered about a future with her, but then he would remember Annabeth, his mum, and everyone else he loved and would have to leave behind.
He rubbed at his eyes and sat up. He felt fully rested and healthy. "You're up." Calypso stated without taking her eyes off the moonlace.
Percy nodded. "Calypso, I-"
"I know." she interrupted. "Go, hero. I-I know you have to." Her voice broke saying this and he could see her eyes tearing up.
Percy took a deep breathed and walked over to her to squeeze her hand. "I'm sorry," he said.
She looked down at the grass, she would not dare to look at him—or else she would start to cry. She was already trembling.
Percy caressed her cheek, wiping her tears. She finally looked at him in the eye. Calypso gave him a tight hug. "Farewell, Percy Jackson. A boat is waiting for you."
He hesitated, but nodded. He planted a light kiss on her cheek and they said their final goodbyes.
"The fates are cruel, Percy. Just remember me." was the last thing Percy heard on the island of Ogygia.
Then, he sailed off to Camp Half Blood .
Through his journey, he thought about Ogygia and Calypso. How she would always be his biggest "what if?"
By the time he reached camp, he knew he shouldn't of had left. Ogygia was home. With Calypso. Forever.
But he could not turn back now, he would never see her again. Them. Percy and Calypso. Us, he thought.
Although, he already figured out there will never be an "us" for him and the lost, lonely Calypso.
